Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

My name is Heidi Lyons, Board President and Founder of Family Pet Support, Inc.  I have been a life-long community servant and animal lover.  It has always been my dream to establish my own non-profit entity for animals.​

Cancer has hit our family hard.  My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2020.  After 2 major surgeries, he was fortunate enough to be declared cancer free.  In 2021 he was diagnosed with an unrelated thyroid cancer.  After some treatment and surgery, he again cancer free.  In 2022, I was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer.  Because ovarian cancer usually isn't diagnosed until late stages, the prognosis is often poor.  I wasn't sure I would survive until Christmas 2022.  Luckily, the stars aligned, and my treatment was successful and I was declared cancer free on December 15, 2022.  Our dogs have always been instrumental in our healing processes.  

Since then, I have been working on fulfilling my bucket list.  My mom, currently battling breast cancer herself, and 3 good friends came together and helped me achieve this dream and we are all excited to serve the community with this purpose!
